On September 11, Dr. Legato gave the keynote lecture at the Sex and Gender Health Education Summit—a national collaboration brought together by the Mayo Clinic, the American Medical Women’s Association, the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health at Texas Tech University Health Science Center, and Thomas Jefferson University along with other national supporters.
Dr. Legato gave a presentation on Gender-Specific Medicine in the Genomic Era, discussing the transformative changes that have occurred in the biomedical sciences in the 21st century and exploring questions that have come up in the gender-specific medical community in the post-genomic era.
This three-day event provided health care educators with a framework for integrating sex- and gender-based medicine into their teaching, as well as providing attendees with the opportunity to interact with thought leaders across various healthcare professions.
